What is two step authentication?

Two step authentication will not stop all online crime but it provides us with an extra layer of protection. But what is it? and how's does it work?

What is two step authentication?

In short it is a second layer of protection which when activated means the user is sent a code to a seperate device via text or email and without this code this transaction cannot take place.

How does it work?

Two step authentication requires, along with a password, a second form of identity verification. After successfully making a payment or logging in to an account with password, the user is prompted to either confirm their identity using the two step authentication process from a text or email. This makes it very hard for the scammer as they won't have access to the users phone, email or code generator as this goes to a second device.

It is highly recommended people activate this option if it is available.
